Strasbourg to Vienna for Christmas Markets

Hello, we are staying in Strasbourg and then goin to Vienna. We thought of training back to Charles de Gaulle and catching a flight but if we leave around 3pm the round trips flight is 400.00 per person. Otherwise we have to take a very late flight into Vienna in order to get a more reasonable price. We do need to get back to Charles de Gaulle to catch a flight so we can take a late flight from VIE to CDG. Does anyone have suggestion on getting to Vienna that will not be as epensive? Maybe that is just the price and we just do o that I think a train would be an option to and understand it could be 8 hrs. Is it a nice scenic train for that whole distance?

Try the Basel airport. It's closer to Strasbourg and has direct flights. Stuttgart airport is also relatively close, and the area boasts multiple Christmas markets if this is the main purpose for your trip.

I would not call the full train route particularly scenic. If this is your preferred option, perhaps you can break it up and make an overnight stop. Here again, Stuttgart is a solid option. Munich is also along this route.

Thank you for the information. Much appreciated. We decided to train back to CDG and fly to Vienna from there. Less time traveling since we only have a short time in Vienna.

There is also the night train option. That is route Strasbourg to Vienna, if you don't want to back track to Paris on the TGV
