Strasbourg Restaurant Recommendations

We will be in Strasbourg as a day trip in 12 days(!), and we are looking for recommendations for restaurants highlighting the regional/local cuisine. We have been dreaming of flammekuchen for months!

No restrictions for budget or diet, but we do need to be at the train station by 20:00 to get back to Paris.

For a very traditional choucroute visit Au Pont du Corbeau on Quai St. Nicholas facing the River Ill. Another wonderful stop is Porcus at 6 Place du Temple Neuf. A magnificent charcuterie is on the ground floor and the restaurant is one flight up. Porcus is only open for lunch and seating is limited so reservations are advised.

We loved Gurtlerhoft, very near Cathedral. Ask for a table in the lower level. May be tight timing. Most dinners are served late in France, so finer restaurants may not even open until 19:00. Not sure if they are open for lunch.

That is probably too early to eat dinner at a high-quality restaurant (most are only just starting to open at 1930). I would look for places for lunch time.

Yeah, we recognize that timing is an issue for dinner, but that's what we have.

Thanks for the info so far.

Thanks for all of the recommendations.

Porcus was amazing.

There was a comedy of errors that prevented us from having a nice, early dinner like we had hoped, but we had a lovely day in Strasbourg.
