Strasbourg Itinerary help!!

I am a student going backpacking in Europe this summer with a group of 12 people. This trip is really unique in that each student completely plans their own country. I am in charge of planning our 3 day stay in Strasbourg. Does anybody have any suggestions about what to do for 2-3 days? Also any recommendations for authentic, non-touristy restaurants that are good for groups?
Any information would be appreciated!

You must take the short train ride south to Colmar to visit the Musee Unterlinden to see Grunewald's Issenheim Alterpiece. The museum is a short (1 km or so) walk from the train station and is a nice museum with more to it than the alterpiece. There was construction going on at the museum last year but I think it is done now. Colmar is a really nice walking town to be in. As for Strasbourg, it is also a really nice city to walk in. To eat, head over to the river and you will find restaurants, some large ones, along it. Touristy? Well, everyone likes eating along the river in the summer so check out the menus & just pick one that seems interesting. You might consider McDonald's to be "touristy" but one lesson you will learn quickly backpacking in Europe is that most McDonald's offer restrooms that you don't have to buy anything to use!

One thing I noticed about Strasbourg was that even some tourist-trap looking restaurants were pretty good.

Since there are twelve of you, I would suggest trying to book restaurants in advance (maybe go looking for interesting looking places at lunchtime and book for dinner the same evening), as you might have trouble finding a restaurant that can seat a group that big without warning.
