Will be there for 4 nights later this year. Staying downtown,
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. We're okay to spend some extra dollars for really good food.

Two restaurants I really enjoyed in Strasbourg:
1. Restaurant Au Port du Corbeau for an excellent and traditional Choucroute Garnie, a signature dish of the area.
2. Porcus. The restaurant is one flight up over their charcuterie store. The Choucroute is quite different than that of Au Port but is quite good. They offer a wide variety of dishes based on what is sold in their shop. It’s a great place for lunch to enjoy cold cuts, wursts, sausage and knacks. I’d make reservations even at lunch because it fills up with locals quickly.
3. Try a flammekuechen which is the Alsatian equivalent of pizza. Available all around town for a light meal.
We enjoyed staying for several nights in downtown Strasbourg just two weeks ago. We had flammkuchen (aka Tarte Flambée) two places, and the best was at Le Pfifferbriader, which translates to “The Three Piping Brothers.” They also have lots of other Alsatian specialties, and an extensive wine list. The custom stained glass windows are impressive. It’s on the narrow alleyway that leads from the Cathedral to where the canal tour boats depart, but it was surprisingly not swarmed with crowds of tourists passing by (lots of people must take the next narrow street over). If you’re seeing the cathedral, for the church itself, the climb to the viewpoint “platform,” and/or the elaborate mechanical clock performance, the restaurant’s location couldn’t be more convenent, at 14 Place du Marché aux Cochons de Lait. Also convenient if you’re going to or from a canal boat tour (go with the covered boat, not the open-top one). The fantastic Alsatian Museum is also just a couple of blocks away, on the other side of the canal.
We’d been in the Alsace region for some time prior to reaching Strasbourg, so for something different on our first night, we ate at Ibérica, a very good Spanish restaurant 2 1/2 short blocks from where we were staying, and located at 9 Rue de la Douane.
Tarte flambee/pizza ?
Pizza has tomato sauce. The other is usually thin and white. And probably lots of cooks just go their own way,
