We are planning a trip to Strasbourg for the Christmas Market and wanted to also tour the Alsatian Wine Route. As to Strasbourg, we will tour the local city and train to other cities in the area (e.g.-Colmar). Any recommendations for December travel? I also want to see if I can trace my family lineage (with little details:-() while there. However, as to the Wine tour, I noticed that several tours I checked into stop tours in October, hence outside our travel dates of 12/7 to 12/15. Any suggestions on tours that may run through December?

If you are willing to rent a car, stay in one of the villages near Colmar. Without a car, stay in Colmar and use the local buses to visit the villages. I doubt there are tours that run regularly after October since tourism is pretty low. But there may be tours on during December when it is high season in Alsace for the markets - I looked at the official Noel en Alsace website but I didn't see any mention of tours.
Driving isn't difficult - the roads are in good condition - and the villages aren't far apart.
