Strasbourg as a day trip from Paris

Hi, we will be in Paris for 8 full days. We were there 10 years ago and did the usual tourist sites like the museums, Versailles and daytrip to mont st michelle.
This time we are thinking of either Lyon or Strasbourg or Fontainebleau as a daytrip. We will not be driving. I saw pictures of Strasbourg which is close to Colmar and it looks beautiful. Thanks for your suggestions.

I did Strasbourg last summer as a day trip. It was very easy and it’s a good place to visit. The historical part is not huge and the tourism office has am easy to follow map you can use to tour

Thanks Carol. Since Strasbourg is close to colmar, did you by any chance did colmar too as well on same day or another day? I understand that it will be about 2 - 2.5 hours from Paris. Thanks.

No, I decided not to do Colmar. It just felt like that was going to be spending too much time commuting around and not enough time experiencing the place. I just like to get someplace and take my time have a nice meal explore, etc..

Thanks Carol. You’re right. It will be too rush to do 2 places in one day.

It depends how on what you would do in Colmar. The Unterlinden Museum is excellent and the Bartholdi Museum was interesting. Going to Colmar would probably add at least 3 hours to what will probably be a long day.

Thanks Stephen. Just saw the picture of colmar as like little Venice with canals. Yes, it will have to be another daytrip not included with strasbourg .

Consider Colmar instead, we were just there for a couple days and liked Colmar 100x better than Strasbourg. Colmar is a charming town with friendly people vs Strasbourg which is a large city and not friendly in our experience.

Well, my experience was that the people in Strasburg were friendly.

I second the vote for colmar. In fact, I would suggest that you spend a couple of nights there to get a feel for the town and sightsee more.
