We had stayed in Strasbourg last year. It is a wonderful city in the Alsace region. I would recommend the Hotel Gutenberg which is within spitting distance of the Cathedral. I used Trip Advisor for some recommendations on restaurants. We arrived by train so we didn't have to worry about parking, etc. When we arrived we had the taxi from the railway station drive us around the city to see the outside of the European Parliament and the Council on Human Rights plus just get orientated to the city. Since we were there for three days we did take a day tour to Colmar and some villages along the Route de Vin but I think with just two days you should just focus on Strasbourg.
Enjoy your time.

We stayed in Hotel Cathedral with a window that literally opened onto the facade of the Cathedral -- we really liked it. Bare bones European hotel room but fine; the wifi however sucked. We had to perch on the stairs to get any at all. They did have parking for a small fee; not convenient parking but it was better than trying to cope elsewhere. It was an easy walk to the dock for the river boat that goes through old town and also out to the EU headquarters and an easy stroll into the old historic center. Lots of good restaurants nearby.
When in Strasbourg consider driving over to the Rhine for a short cruise through some of the prettiest country on the Rhine -- castles, vineyards and villages.
