Strasbourg and Colmar with covid pass and CDC cards.

Hi everyone. I'm in Switzerland with my sister and her husband. I received my French covid pass, they did not. We did day trips to Colmar and Strasbourg. In our experience the CDC card was accepted at all p!aces near tourist areas. We had to show even to sit outside at a few p!aces which surprised us but we were happy to oblige. There was one bakery in Strasbourg near the train station that was not familiar with CDC card so I just went in and got food to go.
Masking better than Switzerland. Mask police were at Colmar train station checking everyone on the platform.
We have not encountered Americans. Both places were almost empty early in the am. We practically had Colmar to ourselves. Communication a little more tricky but we are managing while entertaining those around us. :)
Ill report more later but wanted to provide the covid details for those travelling soon.

Thanks for the news! We are supposed to come to France from the US in two weeks. We haven’t received our QR code’s yet. We will be in Paris and Strasbourg each for a week. We are on the fence about coming without a QR code before we leave. Thoughts on that? We are also worried about testing positive right before we are supposed to leave. Are you as well? We are fully vaccinated but I keep hearing about vaccinated people still contracting covid.

Hi Nancy. Did u app!y for the covid pass with the new site? If so I think there's a good chance u will get it in time. And I think as more US tourists visit France more establishments will become familiar with our CDC cards.
I was worried about the test to return to the US before I arrived in Switzerland. In fact we have 12 self covid tests for the 3 of us. But now that we're here all the worry is gone and we're just enjoying ourselves. As we get closer to departure we'll have to think about it again.
We loved the cathedral in Strasbourg but we're otherwise not as impressed. We absolutely loved loved Colmar and much preferred it. If u can visit either early in the am I think u will be pleased by lack of crowds. FYI on Strasbourg train station. Pay toilets were 90 cents can use credit card. It was very hard to find help. The ticket counter was hidden behind some construction wooden boards. We eventually found a nice policeman that us buy tix. This is our first trip to Europe and so we lack train experience.
Good luck and have a great trio if u decide to go.

Thank you SO MUCH for your encouragement! We were planning a day trip to Lucerne as well. How is Switzerland? I noticed you were there too. Do they have their own QR code system?
