Trying to find someplace to stay in or around Strasbourg at the beginning of December for less than $300 a night. I completely understand that it’s last minute and everything is booked. Trying to figure out if I should go to one of the small villages like Obernai or Riquewihr. But will I be able to get back and forth to Strasbourg or Colmar easily enough. I don’t think renting a car seems reasonable in price. I’m only there for a night or two and then off to Germany. Any suggestions on where to stay? Thanks
Have you looked at Airbnb's? We had one booked there for about $225/night for mid December, but then cancelled the trip.
Consider staying in Haganu or Freiburg. Both allow access to Strasbourg easily.
If Strasbourg is where you want to be, then make that your priority. Don't waste your trip being on the road. Instead find a hotel near the train station or not in the very center of town.
We were going to Strasbourg and had booked a nice apartment very close to the center on AirBnB, which we have now cancelled (decided to go somewhere else instead). You may want to check there and on Booking.com, entering your dates to search only for what's available.
Last December my daughter and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Hotel Villa D'est for one night, for about $315. It was a bit off the beaten path, though safe and not too bad a walk from the train station, and surprisingly close to the first Christmas market at Place Kleber. (We like walking, and it sharpens the appetite.) Although the room was a little tight, we enjoyed it very much. It was cute and clean, the bed (twins?) was comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful. And it had an absolutely wonderful breakfast that we thoroughly enjoyed (included, $20/pp.)
