My husband and I (Age 30 & 29) will be in Chamonix from 26 - 29 May and planned to take the train to Paris on the morning of the 29th of May and staying 4 nights in Paris. I see on the Trainline website that there may be possible strikes on the 29th of May. Now we don't know what to do. (The route from Chamonix as per the Trainline website is: Bus from Chamonix to St-Gervais-les-Bains—Le Fayet to Annecy and then Train from Annecy to Paris.) Should we stay a 4th night in Chamonix? Or perhaps explore another little town for 1 night? Perhaps 1 night in Anncey and take the train on the 30th of May to Paris? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
The affected dates for possible strikes are:
****April : 3, 4, 8, 9, 13, 14, 18, 19, 23, 24, 28 and 29.
*May : **3, 4, 8, 9, 13, 14, 18, 19, 23, 24, 28 and 29.**
June : 2, 3, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 22, 23, 27 and 28.*******
Annecy is quite pretty! it would also split your long train ride in 2.
While I would not usually choose a night in Annecy over a night in Paris, in this case it will mean a lot less anxiety for you, a better chance to get on the May 30 train if you reserve it now, and the possibility to choose one of the earlier departures to Paris on the 30th.
