Stolen passport with schengen visa need urgent help

Hi,
We have our indian passports with schengen visa issued by french consulate in LA got stolen in paris. We were able to get our new indian passports immediately, now how do we continue to travel to Rome, can we continue or have to go back to USA.
We are PR in USA. Is there any where in paris we can go to get the schengen visa on our new passports?

Need of information of what next?

Thank you
Charan

My first thought is to go to the local US embassy in Paris for help. Bring your passport along with your ID (state driver's license) to show you are a resident of the USA. The staff should guide you from there.

Let us know if this works.

I wish you a happy journey!

Au revoir!

{Edit . . . I would take no chances traveling without some official advice. Call the US embassy in Paris. Since you are legal residents of the USA the embassy staff could advise you as to your next step.}

The US embassy is the wrong place to go. They'd take care of citizens, not residents.

You got new passports at the Indian embassy, obviously.

If the French consulate issued you a visa, they're part of the Foreign Affairs Ministry. Go see them if you're in Paris or go to a French consulate if you're in another country. Wherever you go is going to have access to your visa record and can fix your problem.

Optionally, you could press on to Rome and see the French consular section there.

I think that if you ignored the problem it might not go away. When you exited the zone, there'd be a record of your entry and you'd still have permission to be in the zone, just not ready evidence of the proof of permission. You wouldn't be in big trouble, but it might slow you down.

We filed the complaint, and have the report. We called the US embassy, and directed to automatic recording asking us to book appointment to get transportation letter for travelling back to US , no information about Schengen visa. Has anyone got there visa issued at foreign ministry of affairs in paris, any insight would be helpful, we have been going head over tail on how to fix this, we have our passport and no how to get transportation letter to USA, the only missing thing is how to get Schengen visa back.. Any help is highly appreciated

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in Paris. That's like the US Department of State and is the parent agency of all embassies and consulates. The main building is on the Quai d'Orsay (Invalides).

Disregard the continually changing first response which offers you no viable solution.

Send the email now - I would put something like "Visa stolen in Paris - Need replacement" in the subject line

as hard as it might be send the email then carry on with your visit to Paris and await their reply - it is only 2 am in LA so you have a while before anyone will even see your email or you can try and phone.
