Staying near the Gare de Lyon/Marias and CDG recommendations

At the end of our two week trip June 23, 2025 to July 7, 2025 , we ( two women--32 and a fit 71) will be taking the train back to Paris from Nice and will be at the Gare de Lyon on a Sunday at about 5:30 pm. Our flight from CDG leaves at 4:15 pm the next day.

So we don't have much time, but we have already spent 5 days in Paris in the 6th at the beginning of our trip.

I'm looking for a hotel location/recommendations and a plan to spend our last night and partial day while leaving enough time to get to CDG. And thoughts about taking a taxi or the train from there to CDG.

Will each have a small rolling bag and a tote.

Thanks in advance.

I can't imagine anything more depressing than spending my last night in Paris in an airport hotel; so staying in Paris is a good idea. There are lots of hotels near the Gare de Lyon, at various price points. I see a Citizen M, Novotel, and Courtyard within a couple of blocks. Have a look on Booking.com for reviews.

Not sure what to suggest for activities, since I don't know your interests or what you will have seen earlier. But a late evening Seine cruise after dinner might be relaxing. And since you'll be stuck on a cramped airplane for hours the next day, perhaps a morning stroll along the Seine or in one of the gardens, if the weather cooperates?

Taking the RER would require taking an RER or metro to Chatelet les Halles and connecting with the RER B to CDG. That should take an hour. Or take a fixed rate taxi from your hotel direct to CDG in slightly less time. You will want to arrive at the airport 3 hours before your flight.

Yes, with your late afternoon departure the next day, stay in the city.

If you're taxi people, anywhere in your budget that fits with your schedule. If your okay with the RER, then choose a hotel near a RER B station. I'm usually solo in Paris. I stay on the Ile Saint-Louis and walk less than 15 minutes with my spinner and tote to the RER B station at St. Michel-Notre Dame using the elevator on rue Xavier Previs to avoid the stairs and elevators at the station. I can take a direct train to CDG in under an hour.

For your evening, maybe return to a restaurant that you enjoyed during your earlier stay. The Seine cruise is a great idea. Maybe a concert at Sainte-Chapelle or another church. I haven't looked at the schedule to see what's on.

For departure day, if weather is nice enjoy the parks and gardens. Maybe a leisurely brunch/early lunch before heading to the airport.

We stay near Gare de Lyon because that is the station that serves our city. We've stayed at about 10 hotels in the area: Ibis 3-star, Mercure & Novotel 4-star, are standard all over France. I stayed in the Holiday Inn Gare de Lyon 4-star recently, a large hotel, nothing special, overpriced breakfast. The Palym 3-star was ok, good breakfast. Two boutique hotels 4-star but one needed remodeling badly (I got sick from the dust in the carpet), the other was badly remodeled without shelves or closet and a coffee machine on the nightstand.
My favorites are the standardized Ibis Ledru-Roullin, basic, but with a huge grassy courtyard, so ask for a courtyard room. My other favorite is a quirky 3-star with the best breakfast of all, Locomo Hotel. It's been remodeled correctly but with funky rough wood shelves, and the elevator stops between the floors, so you always have to walk 1/2 a floor up or down. They carry my suitcase to and from my room. I found it while looking for hotels without carpet to avoid dust. It's quirky but it's our go-to now.
Stars indicate the amenities in the room, such as stuffing a coffee machine on a nightstand to reach 4-stars. The 4-stars have slightly larger rooms...sometimes.
