Staying near Arc d' Triomphe on a Saturday

We fly into to Paris on a Friday afternoon for a RS Tour that begins on a Sunday. Our hotel is very close to the Arc d' Triomphe, and we are going to the Eiffel Tower on Saturday (on our own). I know we will be very close to the gilets jaunes protesters. I'm wondering what the best route to the Eiffel Tower would be? We will be relying on our feet and public transportation. Also, is there a time the protesters start and end? I'm thinking we could leave our hotel before it gets too crazy if we know they tend to start at a designated time.

I feel safe, but I just don't want to get "stuck" and have our precious little time in Paris delayed, if we can avoid it.

Thanks!

The Gilets Jaunes protesters are moving their protests around Paris to cause as much confusion as possible. Metros involved are closed at 8 am. Buses are deviated as the RATP sees fit. You don't mention the specific Saturday involved so you will have to pay attention to Paris media to get information on the areas targeted on the Saturday you plan to be here. The RATP website will give you metro and bus information.

Excluding any crowd problems, you'd usually tank the metro to the Trocodero station. When you come up the escalator at sundown, the Eiffel Tower is just breathtaking--across the river and down the hill from the metro station. And they fire off strobe lights all over the tower every few minutes.

75020- Thank you so much for your information! After I posted this, I noticed the links you shared about this past Saturday's protest. Thanks for doing that. I'll keep checking those links.

David- that picture you just painted for me is ah-mazing! :) I am beyond excited at the thought!

Southam - thank you. That is helpful. :)

sprangel1- I sent you a private message. :)

ETA: Also- I went ahead and called RS travel number and spoke to a very helpful lady. I asked if there was a chance they would change hotels due to the protests and she assured me they wouldn't/haven't had to yet. The tour guides are in communication with the police and she said since I was asking about a Saturday before the tour begins, that the hotel would be able to give me the best route to the Eiffel Tower, and which areas to avoid. (I hadn't even thought of that!)
