Staying in the 16 arrondissement in Paris

I will be staying in the 16th arrondissement in Paris in October 2022 I found an apartment through airbnb that was reasonably priced. I'm not staying closer to the city because hotel and airbnb prices are incredibly expenses. I feel that I can use a combination of taxi, Uber and metro to see the sites in the city. This will be my second trip to Paris. Any feedback or reviews regarding the 16th arrondissement would be appreciated.

It is an upper crust residential area. One thing I have noted wandering around there is the. comparative paucity of amenities like sidewalk cafes and bakeries compared to other areas we have stayed. The metro is everywhere as are buses; transport won't be an issue. Get ahold of a walking tour guide for the architecture of the 16th. There are a bunch of interesting Guimard buildings.

As always it depends of course on where exactly you will be as arrondissements are large and varied.

The 16th arrondissement is large!
Trocadéro / Passy / Victor Hugo is fairly central still; south of La Muette is a bit further out.
Some parts are very residential, others are more lively: could you give us more details on the airbnb location? I used to live on rue Vineuse, steps away from Trocadéro, until 2020 (I guess that makes me "upper crust" haha), so I might have a few tips if you're staying thereabouts.

I "live" in the 16th when I can (summers, holidays). It is huge, as said above, so you'll want to précise. I live right smack dab between Auteuil and Passy - and to me these are quintessential Paris. I have a Guimard building I pass by daily and one can get a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower from the streets or an even better view from Pont Mirabeau or Grenelle.
I love le 16ème.

Thé Airbnb is near the Port de Saint Cloud metro station and it’s at 15 Rue Claude Terrasse BAT.

We are currently in Paris in the 16th district. We have an apartment for 5 of us and are currently using metro Bossiere as our local metro location. Using the metro we've been able to navigate into the central locations of Paris easily. Where we are located, there are plenty of restaurants, groceries, and bakeries on Rue Kleber. We are 10 min walk to Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysee. We arrived 5 days before our Rick Steve's Paris HOF tour. We just completed our tour today and checked back into our same apartment before the tour. Nice place to stay. As Rebecca Berry, our RS tour guide stated - it is an upper crust district. Hope this helps.

Porte de Saint Cloud is as far from the center as it gets without leaving city limits, but you're still within a 30-45 minute metro ride from most places in the city.
You're also fairly close to Versailles, if that's of interest - maybe 25€-30€ by Uber or similar.

There's a large street market on Avenue de Versailles on Tue, Thu, Sun mornings, and quite a few restaurants on and around said avenue - no specific recommendations from me, though, as I've never been out there for a meal.

terriannpa,

Have you looked at a map? Have you mapped out routes to things you want to see on City Mapper or Google Maps?
It looks like it will take you about 45 minutes to get the Louvre Museum.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I’m going to book a hotel closer to the city because I don’t want to be 45 minutes out. It will cost more but will make more since in the long run, Looking at the Hotel Jeanne d’Arc in the 4th Arr.

I think you are making the right decision. The location of Hotel Jeanne d'Arc is fantastic. I have stayed there in the single room - it's very small, but thoughtfully laid out so I seemed to have space for everything. I requested a room at the back and it overlooked the beautiful rooftops and courtyard and was very quiet.

Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais ? Friends of mine stayed there when they came for my wedding… but that was 15 years ago. They did love it then, though !

I haven't stayed there, but the location of Hotel Caron, off rue Saint Antoine, is really outstanding. Marais, Latin Quarter, Notre Dame are all really close by.
Certainly a much better location than the airbnb you had found on rue Claude Terrasse.
