Our hotel is located 3 miles from Pontorson, and 3 miles from Mont St. Michel on Road D776, the one that goes to the mount. Are taxis available to get us from the Pontorson railway station to our hotel, and can we somehow still take the bus to Mont St. Michel without going back into Pontorson? I don't see any rentals cars available.

Where exactly is the hotel? I remember there is a bus that runs through Pontorson to Mt St Michel and it made stops so that may be the one you would take. I am certain the hotel can tell you.

There are usually taxis waiting Pontorson as they know when the trains are coming in with folks in the same situation as yours.
You do not need to really need to rent a car if it is only 3 miles. And you will see the Mount from that distance.

You can take a taxi or bus no need for a car not unless you are planning to tour other areas nearby.
The bus stop is right in front of the train station will say direction Mont St Michel and you will see others, obvious tourists. That same bus stops by your hotel before reaching Mt St. Michel. The stop is Greve at Beauvoir. The same bus you can take to Mt St Michel or you probably can walk or rent a bike if it is nice day and if you are not in a hurry.
