Stay in Cannes vs Antibes?

Hi! My daughter and I are visiting during the first weeks of June 2020. I cannot decide whether or not to stay at Croisette Beach Hotel MGallerie in Cannes or at AC Juan-les-Pines/ Antibes (Marriott brand). We typically stay at more “luxury” hotels but cannot afford more than about 500/day for this trip so I’m hoping for a comfortable bed, safe and quiet location with pool and close beach access. (My idea is to lie on the beach and swim a lot while we adjust to time change before hitting Paris!) We also want to shop, visit restaurants, and will likely go to museums in nearby towns. Nightlife is not important, and I am not able to walk a lot so access to Uber/transportation is important. My college-aged daughter and I have never
traveled outside the US together, and I’m hoping for a great and safe trip.

While I’m asking...are there beaches in either location that have no smoking sections? I have cancer (lymphoma) and asthma and cannot be around smoke.

Thank you for any insight. I notice that RS doesn’t even really address Cannes much in his guidebook to France. Any help is appreciated!

We loved Antibes and stayed at Mas Djoliba Hotel. It is very nice. It has a pool and onsite parking and good breakfasts. The beaches are ok in Antibes there is a nice beach in believe in Juan-les-Pines. Seems to me most "nice" beaches in Europe will require a fee to use their facilities

Thank you! I updated my post; the AC is in Juan-les-Pines. Both do have private (paid) beaches. I’m going to look up the hotel you mention...
No availability.

Have been to Antibes many times, as day trips from Nice. Great town, great shopping, but was never looking for beach time. Antibes does have a truly wonderful Picasso museum. Not large, but stunning artwork, including some of his ceramics.

Haven’t been to Cannes, so this may be completely unfounded, but my impression is that it has a big-name film festival once a year, and that’s its claim to fame.
