St Remy or Les Baux?

We will be staying in the Provence area for three nights and trying to decide wether to stay in or near St. Remy or Les Baux. Any thoughts as to which would be better?
Or are there other places in the area we should consider?

I think St Remy is going to have a little more going on, but I guess it depends on what YOU want to do in the evenings. We visited Les Baux in early Oct, and the first day, we arrived just after the ruins closed, and let me tell you, it was pretty quiet - most of the shops were closed, hardly a soul about.

Now, we only drove thru St Remy, so I can't speak for there...and I guess if you want really quiet, Les Baux would be nice.

We stayed in Salon, just because I found a great airbnb and it was central for all the places we wanted to visit...

We had a gite in Saint-Rémy for a week this summer, and it was a great base for us (with our rental car). We visited Les Baux late one afternoon, and had a picnic supper at sunset up at the castle ruins - a wonderful time to be there!

I had a room in a B&B a few years ago in Les Baux for a couple of nights, but unless you want to be close to the boutique shops or especially want to be high up in a hilltown with winding pedestrian streets, Saint-Rémy will have more "going on," as noted earlier - especially dining options. It's also a close, easy walk or drive from Saint-Rémy to the ancient Roman ruins at Glanum.

St. Remy is also very well located for getting to other worthwhile places. Easy access to highways without negotiating hilly, winding roads.

We found St. Remy to be a really good base to go to other towns by car. Les Baux would be very quiet. I've also stayed in Arles. It's bigger than St. Remy, but a better base if you will not have a car.

St. Remy would be a better base for visiting other parts of the region. Les Baux is definitely worth a visit, but is too far out of the way for overnight stays, in my opinion, especially since you are in the area for only three nights.

Another quick shout out for the ruins at Glanum. My husband read a novel where some of the action took place at Glanum, so he wanted to visit. We spent a little less than an hour there but found it interesting!
