The nearby brasseries are more on blvd Montparnasse: La Coupole, La Rotonde, Le Select, or La Closerie des Lilas. However, Brasserie Lipp is just across the street from the Église de Saint Germain des Prés. Café Louise, next door, is also open from 07h to 02h.

Are you asking about restaurants as well? My favorites in this area are: Armani Ristorante, Aux Prés Cyril Lignac, Didon, Seulement Sea, Le Bon Saint Pourçain, and Le Jardin Saint Germain.

A bit to the south, rue du Cherche-Midi has several restaurants worth mentioning: Le Petit Verdot, Paul Chêne, and Chez Dumonet.

Of course the famous Les Deux Magots is in this area - very close to the church, if I recall correctly.

I was in Paris in April of this year, and ate at Au Petite Suisse, on Rue de Vaugirard, a classic brasserie in St. Germain. When I was there, most of the diners around us were speaking French, so I assume many locals eat there. I was very excited to see an array of salads on the menu, and I ordered a wonderful salad with mixed greens, roquefort cheese, walnuts, pears, and country ham. My grandchildren (tween and teen) loved the roast chicken special, which was served with fries and a mixed green salad. The food was very good, and they also had a lovely display of desserts available. It had a very nice ambience as well.

Mardee! Au Petit Suisse is one of our very faves in Paris. We’ve been eating there for years and it never disappoints! Last time we were there I had a pear, country ham, walnut, and Roquefort salad that was to die for.

La Closerie de Lilas is wonderful - old school class, charm, and cuisine - but it is also quite expensive. Worth it! But not a place for a mid-priced meal. :-)

blynd22,
In the St Germain area we enjoyed a really nice lunch at Breizh Cafe. There are more than one around Paris. They specialize in Breton crepes (savory ones) and everything we tried was delicious. The price was good. It appeared that the other diners were all French people on their lunch break. We also liked Cafe Mucha, in the same area...good food, good service, nice ambience, fair prices.
Brasserie Lipp was an old haunt of my mother-in-law's when she lived in Paris after WWII. She spent many an hour there and had fond memories of it. We went there in an homage in 2023 and were sorely disappointed in the food and service. We have been there in the past and hadn't have any problems. This time the waiter was actually rude and the food was subpar. My husband, who grew up in France and is very understanding of French ways and the French vibe, swore never to return. I have to agree with him. What should have been a nice remembrance of a favorite restaurant was tainted. I can only hope it was a one-off.

Thanks Tocard, and all the others who replied, vvwe tried Le Jardin Les Germain. Thanks for the great recommendation. Very good dinner of sea bass and the appetizer Calamari were delicious. And a lovely host . (Pretty sure he was also the owner) and a sweet young acting student waiter. It’s a pretty small space but with simple, attractive decor.
Thanks to all for your suggestions. We are reviewing the other sites forum members suggested for tomorrow’s dinner!
