We re planning a road trip end of April for 2 weeks. We are landing in Milan and driving to St Emilion and back staying in numerous towns. I am struggling finding hotels in St Emilion. In Ricks book he mentions Au Logis des Remparts ( concerned with reviews of needs major updating), L'Auberge de la Commanderie looks great but unable to book for 2026 on site and no response to email ( maybe no longer open?), L'Auberge de la Commanderie looks nice but some concerns with steep climb and dragging luggage up the hill reviews.
Towns we are staying along the way are Aosta, Annecy,S arlat-la-caneda, St Emilion, Condom, Salers, Chambrey and back into Milan to fly out but bypass visiting the city.
Any recommendations for St Emilion and any can't miss sites and restaurants in any of these cities would be greatly appreciated.

Check out lodgings in Libourne. It's much larger than St-Emilion but very close and convenient by car or train.
FYI, there's really no way to visit the village of St-Emilion itself without dealing with some pretty steep climbs.
