St Chapelle Ticket Timing

Hello, we (2 couples) will be visiting Paris early May (5/3-6). On our 1st day we will be touring around Saint Germain des Pres and Isle de Cite to see the exterior of Notre Dame and visit St Chapelle. It is my understanding you need a timed ticket. We really won't know exactly what time we will be arriving at St Chapelle. Can you buy a timed ticket last minute for St Chapelle? Or need I need to do that well ahead?

Also, how much time should we allow for seeing this? I'm sure there is a queue you have to wait in first plus tour time.

Would appreciate some input please. Merci beaucoup.

Yes, I have already searched the website and did not find this kind of info. I know I can book the ticket ahead just wasn't sure if it fully books up ahead or if waiting to book just an hour or 2 prior to arrival when I have a more accurate arrival time would be feasible or not.

You have to go all the way thru the ticket purchase page but I can purchase a ticket for a visit later today. You’d have to monitor it for several days to see if the afternoon visits sell out then have data service if you want to buy online.

IF it’s a weekday and the terrorist trial is in session there is a secondary security perimeter set up and you must have a ticket to get through that barrier.

It looks like on weekends you can still buy a ticket on site but other days you have to go to an off site office to purchase.

TBH, with the need for a timed ticket, I’d consider reversing your sightseeing day and do Sainte-Chapelle first, then head to Saint-Germaine area for lunch and a look around.

So it might be possible to get a ticket same day. Good to know but also good suggestion to consider going there first. I was thinking that might be something we would have to consider. Since we just fly in that AM and will need to get lunch first just wasn't sure how long customs at airport, transport to hotel and lunch would all take. We'll probably have to give it our best guess and hope it works. It would be a weekday (Tues) and I did read that there can be 2 security check points which adds time. Thanks for the input.

I would figure 3 hours from CDG thru passport control then to your hotel via taxi. It might take less time than that but likely not more.

Yesterday I stepped off the plane at 8:15 and was to my hotel in the 7th at 10:45. YMMV.

I’d also maybe reconsider whether to do this on arrival day. You may have jet lag and being inside might not be your best option.

Is your hotel near Sainte-Chapelle? Just asking in case you need to get back to crash for a nap, lol. I know many who do not advocate for a nap on arrival day but that is what works for me.

is that trial still going on next to St Chapelle with the crazy security?

also remember, you can buy tickets at any FNAC store for any Paris attraction.

We booked a day before earlier this week and had no issues getting the time of our choice. Granted, it isn’t the busiest time of year for tourists, so you may want to watch and see how that many change between now and your trip.

Yes, security was very heavy in the area. We had to show our tickets to be admitted to the secured area immediately around the Conciergerie and SC. Had no idea why. What trial was going on?

Thanks for the input everyone. We will be visiting on a weekday so need to plan on extra security lines. We'll try to hit St Chapelle 1st and book a ticket ahead hoping we time it right (allowing 3 hrs from CDG to hotel in St Germain des Pres.
Merci!
