We are thinking of taking another trip to Paris, and would like to spend 2-3 nights in the Loire Valley. I'm wondering if anyone has had a wonderful experience in a town, or a certain hotel or B&B that you would highly recommend. The people on this forum give such great advice, and I look forward to hearing all of your recommendations. Thank you.
I did not stay there, but I really loved the town of Amboise. But from what I saw of it, the whole Loire valley is wonderful.
As BG said, all of the Loire is wonderful and you can't go wrong wherever you choose. We've stayed in Amboise a couple times and like the town a lot. We stayed at Hotel Belle-Vue which I DO NOT recommend... it was moldy, very unpleasant owner and just awful. Second visit we stayed at Hotel Manoir les Minimes and loved it... but it's expensive... but very, very nice. Worth every penny.
Next time I think we will stay at La Roseraie which is in the town of Chenonceaux within walking distance of the chateau, Chenonceau. It's my favorite chateau. Many people on this forum have recommended it for years.
Thank you for your responses. Hope others will respond as well. I will look into La Roseraie near Chenonceau, as I think that's one of the chateux that we should see. We are still deciding between France/Loire or England Cotswalds, but have both of Rick Steves books and I'm doing research.
Hope to hear more suggestions. We love to bike, so I'm thinking it would be a great area to do some cycling.
Susan, The Loire would definitely be a great area for bike riding!
