Spending time in Provence/Occitanie- staying in Nimes & Sete

We will be spending a week in June split between the far side of the Provence region- in the 'Rome' of France, Nimes, before moving further South to be on the water and staying in Sete. We plan to hit all the major Roman sites in Nimes, including nearby Pont du Gard. We already have hotels picked out in both towns. Would love any recommendations about other things to do and places to eat in either city. For Sete in particular, what are the best nearby beaches? Recommendations in town or even accessible by short bus or bike ride would be great- we're pretty active people.

If it is your thing the Serignon Plage Nature Center is a family friendly Nudist beach west of Sime. Near there is Plage de la Grand Marie on a Lagoon. Closer to Sime is Plage de la Plagette and Plage de la Roquelle. Sime has many hotels, some with beaches, and bistros and bars and lots of other forms of entertainment for a good time! There seem to be many camping areas nearby which might make most of these beaches popular with youths and young families. Do more research online to see if these will work for you.

Just an FYI: Nîmes is west of the Rhône, so it is in Occitanie, as is Sête. When you go east of the Rhône, you’re in Provence.

You can take a bus to visit Aiguës Mortes and the salt works, take a guided tour into the Camargue.

We had the most wonderful meal at L'Accent Bistrot Chic in Nimes. Very reasonably priced (we had lunch) and the owner was just lovely as well. I highly recommend it!
