spending the night in Versailles

Hello fellow travelers:
We are traveling through Paris on our way to the Camino de Santiago. We are allowing just 2 nights in Paris (or nearby) to recover jet lag before catching the train to Bayonne and then on to St. Jean Pied de Port. We thought we would go to Versailles on the one full day we will have. Does it make sense to spend the night there instead of in Paris? If so, do you have hotel or b&b suggestions?

Thank you!

Month and Year? Have you ever been to Paris? Which train station in Paris is your target?

Lori,
It is my belief that your train to Bayonne will leave from Paris, so I would not stay the night in Versailles. Just day trip on your one full day.

Thank you Judy. It looked to me like one also leaves from Versailles but maybe I was looking at it wrong. We have been to Paris once before but have obviously not seen all the sights there. We do plan on spending 4 nights in Paris on our way home and plan on seeing Monet's Garden at that time along with a couple of museums. I was trying to think how best to spend our time. Since Versailles is a full day trip I thought it would fit but maybe we had just better stay in Paris. Thanks again for your time and thoughts.
