I am a writer working on a draft for a novel set at Versailles and centered around the royal children of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI. I would very much like to tour the children's quarter of the palace, but other than taking a very expensive VIP tour, I don't see any options. Is there someone I can write to for such a tour? I will be visiting Paris in early September.

Hi Janis,
I did a tour of Versailles in September 2012. I bought the tickets online in advance 28 euros, simply because they gave me an entrance time and I wouldn't have to queue at the gate. We were free to wander the grounds after the tour and I do remember visiting the dauphin and dauphine's rooms.
To be sure you can do what you want, check at the website which was www.versailles-tourisme.com
28 euros is a small price to pay to avoid what can be three hour long entrance queues!
