Special birthday in Paris

Hello! You were all so helpful with my other post and questions ... my partner's birthday is the day we land in Paris! We will land at 12:00- from Canada direct! I want to do something special for this birthday and also mindful of wasting money when we don't know how we will feel with jet lag etc. So... k was thinking we check in to our air b and b, nap a bit.. and as it spans now I have reservations for 9:00 at Madame Brasserie.. re thinking this to perhaps booking a "get your guide" trip up the tower for around 8:00 followed by dinner at Francette's after - what are your suggestions or thoughts? Any experiences with either restaurant or with get your guide tours? Thank you!!

Are you arriving from East Coast or West coast of Canada ? (Or somewhere in between, as I do from the States) ?

Once, after an overnight flight from Ontario, I fell asleep at lunch, and nearly into lunch. My tactic now is to eat an early dinner at a comfortable cafe near the hotel and retire early. The fancy celebratory dinner can wait a day and probably deserves your wide-eyed attention.

Years ago, the day after flying to France from California, my husband took me to a two-star restaurant. I have no memory of what we ate or drank and only a slight memory of sitting on a terrace overlooking a river. I'd hold off on the special dinner and just enjoy a glass of champagne on the Eiffel Tower.

I have arrived early in the morning for most trips and my habit to get on schedule is to stay up, walk around outside for a while then grab some lunch. By then the lack of sleep is really kicking in and things start feeling bit surreal, so I take a short (2 hour±) mid-afternoon nap, get a shower, out for an early dinner then a reasonable usual bedtime.

However, one time we arrived around noon. We walked around, had lunch, hit the grocery store and were planning to go back out for a nice meal before showers and an early bedtime, but my niece fell asleep while I was putting away the groceries so I , also losing steam, made do with snacks and fell into bed early myself.

I would suggest a walk around outside and planning an early dinner nearby your AirBnB, saving the special dinner for another night. I’ve celebrated many occasions in Paris and really, the day doesn’t really matter — it’s all magic :-) Enjoy!!
