South of France itinerary for 6 days September 2024

Hi,

I'm making a rough draft itinerary for my trip next year in South of France. I'm planning to stay there for 5-6 days and visit all the beautiful towns over there. I probably not going to visit all the crowded tourist attractions. I'm thinking about Nice and Cassis as my home base and rent a car over there. This is my 6 days itinerary:

Day 1: Walking tours and explore Nice (Night in Nice)
Day 2: Drive and go to Eze (Night in Nice)
Day 3: Drive and go to St. Paul De Vence (Night in Nice)
Day 4 : Travel to Cassis and Explore (Night in Cassis)
Day 5: Drive and Hike to Calanques National Park (Night in Cassis)
Day 6: Drive and go to the beach in Calanques National Park ( Night in Cassis)

If you guys have any suggestions or things that I should do differently, please feel free to leave a comment.

Thank you

We spent a few days at Villefranche-sur-Mer instead of Nice and enjoyed it very much. Not so big and a nice harbor. Easy drive to Eze.

You can likely add destinations to your days in Eze and St. Paul de Vence. They are both tiny. Beyond Eze, you should go up to La Turbie and see the Trophee des Alpes. And you can tour Villefranche-sur-Mer and/or Cap Ferrat on your return. Beyond Villefranche sur Mer, I recommend a loop that includes Vence (Matisse Chapel), Tourettes Sur Loup and Gourdon.

years ago we took a lovely boat trip from Cassis along the coast to view the Calanques. It took us into one of the "fjord" type coves. We were there in late Spring/early summer so weather was lovely. I did not arrange the trip so I do not know the cost. Probably 3-4 hour tour

I agree with adding things to your itinerary days of Eze and SPV they are tiny. Personally, three nights in Cassis is two too many. Its pretty small and the Calanques boat trips are pretty short. The beaches I thought were assessable by hike or boat but someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

In the Calanques, you have to combine hiking and going to the beach. The best beach, en Vau, is a 2-hour hike from the Cassis trailhead ; it is a real hike with steep inclines and scree slopes. A longer, but easier hike also leads there from the Cassis-Marseille road. So, i'd say that Day 5 and Day 6 can be combined in a single day, freeing up a day to visit places like Aix, Marseille, or the cute seaside towns and inland villages between Cassis and Toulon (Sanary, Bandol, Le Castellet, Evenos, La Cadière).
