A workshop I’m taking drops us off at 9:30 a. M. at the Avignon TGV……not really enough time to get to MRS for a same day flight home, right? The latest flight home for me is leaving at 1:55 pm from there. So what to do!? 1rst idea….I have looked at staying in Avignon and going by train early the next morning to the airport….from my research there is a direct train to the MRS from Avignon…or is a bus a better option?…2nd…..on “drop off day” go ahead and go to Aix en Provence and stay there a night or two and then bus or taxi to MRS for the flight home……….
Some considerations, I will be “fully loaded” back pack, carry on, med Size rolling suitcase…..the med bag will be checked and carries paint/art supplies needed for workshop…
I am leaning towards Aix….do I want to stay there an extra day (a Saturday) or will half a day do it….I am budgeting some taxi money in but I have found that no matter what charges are to be found on the www the actual charges are always higher….. I feel reasonably capable of handling my baggage but trains are a little tough when you are by yourself with bags at the end of a trip 😎. Any ideas will be appreciated…..

Your Aix idea with an extra day and transportation directly to the airport sounds lovely.

Aix is a lovely spot. Maybe take a market tour or cooking class or a trip to the Luberon. It's about a 30 minute not-to-crowded bus ride to MRS at a cost of less than $10. Aix is a place I would definitely return to for several days.
