Update: Some RER & Metro Closures that may affect your summer travel plans in Paris

Please note that there are some works planned on certain lines that will close them for parts of the summer.

EDIT:: This closure is over now (8/24/2015) !From July 25 through August 23rd, the RERA will be closed between Auber and La Défense.

EDIT : This closure is over now (8/24/2015) ! From July 15 through August 22, the RERC will be closed between Gare d'Austerlitz, Avenue Henri-Martin, and Javel.

Also of note, from August 3-30, the metro station Basilique de Saint-Denis on line 13 will be closed.

For a map summarizing the closures, please see this link (in French):

A few vocab notes to help you with the map:
Fermeture means closed

Trafic Interrompu means *Traffic Interrupted * (i.e. closed!)

You can see from the map that I only reported a few of the closures in the text of my message. There are others.

Thanks. If I read that right, anyone going to Versailles Palace will need to get to Javel on Metro Line No 10 which connects to Gare d'Austerlitz. There is an underground walkway from St Michel-Notre Dame RER B station to Cluny-La Sorbonne. Other Metro Line connections to the No 10 are:
Line No 7 at Jussieau
Line No 4 at Odeon
Line 12 at Sevres-Babylone
Line 13 at Duroc
Line 6 at La Motte-Picquet Grenelle

Also looks like the entire Line No 5 will be closed.

Thanks for this info!

Does the RER A affect the Pyramids metro to Disneyland Paris?

No, the closure is between La Defense and Auber (Gare St Lazare). East from there should be normal.

I am in Paris now. Kim's posting is especially important if you were planning to take the RER B from CDG to St. Michel-Notre Dame & transferring to the RER C to go east-west in the city (or vice versa). No can do. The RATP has set up booths with bi-lingual aides at St. Michel to help travelers get around but it has become more complicated and an alternative from CDG should be considered.

There is bus service between Invalides an Javel that replaces the part of the RER C train that is closed. Just got back from Versailles today and that is what we took to get back to the Alma-Marceau area. Other outbound option is to take Metro 8 to Balard and walk to Pont du Garigliano RERC.

Bumping back up as the RERA closure starts today. No trains between Auber and La Défense. Obviously this really means only one stop is closed, but it prevents you from making the trip straight across. Line 1 is likely to absorb most of the overflow traffic.

Did I understand correctly, that if I manage to get to Javel I can take the RER C to Versailles from there?

So for example I can get metro 10 from Gare d'Austerlitz to Javel and from there get RER C to Versailles. Correct?

As edited above in the original posting, please note that the RERA and RERC are now back to normal.

Most of the summer works are over.

Three stations remain closed through August 30th:

Basilique de St-Denis on line 13

Corvisart on line 6

Stalingrad on line 2

It also looks like the northern end of the No 4 line will be closed from Reaumur-Sebestapol to Porte de Clignancourt starting Thursday, Aug 27 to Sunday, Aug 30. www.ratp.fr shows all the alternate routes.
