Hi Folks,
It looks like I will have two half days and one evening in between in Paris in early Sept. I'm generally pretty intrepid but want to be mindful of safety primarily if I'm poking about in the evening. I'm within about 15 mins walking distance of St Chapelle and was thinking of taking in a concert from 8-9, then strolling around and back to my hotel. How's that sound? Any other thoughts/ideas? Btw, I've been to Paris several times before and visiting St Chapelle is the one big site' I've not yet seen.
Merci!
Go for it! Solo female traveler who has done similar outings frequently!!
I've stayed in that general area at least twice as a solo and never felt unsafe. I am sure to stay aware and wear my 'under clothes' money belt. I dress modestly and wear simple jewelry. I don't however stay out really late, usually am back to the hotel by 11 pm & I try to walk on streets that still have pedestrians walking around enjoying Paris at night.
I’m a 64 year old female who travels solo to Paris at least once a year
Felt perfectly safe at 11 o’clock at night wandering around the city. I don’t think the route you’re proposing would be the least bit problematic.
Paris is very safe. The worst that's going to happen is you could be pickpocketed. Which is a lot better than I can say for where i live
I agree with my fellow forum-ites. I’d have no problem walking 15 minutes from Sainte-Chapelle. It might help to give us a direction, though? My 15 might cover a smaller territory than your 15, lol. I have used the Metro late at night too and had no issues. For clarity, I am NOT a big-city gal, but I love Paris and feel safe!!
You should be fine. I traveled back from the opera in January much later than that to get to my hotel on the Ile St Louis, then again for another concert on the left bank. No problems at all.
Keep in mind that Europeans eat dinner later, so 9:00 will be prime time for lots of people out and about. Nothing to worry about.
Just piling on. I often walk around Paris late at night alone and I am 80. It is a very safe city. And pickpockets are not a real risk walking around at night. They are a risk at the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, the metro and the hotel lobby -- wherever people gather closely. People are leaving dinner at. 10. Anything before midnight, the city is hopping.
Yes, I don't think that area is dangerous. Stick to lighted streets, just to be on the safe side. I don't think you'll have any problems.
Thanks everyone! Feeling good about the concert. For ref, my hotel is in the 6th arr, north of Lux Gardens.
Be sure to come back and let us know how you liked the hotel and what things you liked best this trip.

Oh yes, from Saint-Chapelle to Luxembourg Gardens would be no problem for me at that time of evening. Well, except it's uphill-ish, lolol!!
