Solo Female Paris Hostel Recommendations

I'm a 24 year old solo female traveler spending 4 days in paris June 2019. I'm looking for any recommendations on hostels to stay at or neighborhoods to stay near for all of your typical paris tourist plans. I've traveled by myself before and like to stay at hostels that have a friendly vibe with common spaces to meet other travelers and I don't mind if they are considered a party hostel. I looked into the Generator, The Loft Boutique, or Saint Christopher's Inn and they all look like good options but I don't know if the location is the most ideal. I'm also open to other suggestions besides hostels but I try to stay at/around $50/night if possible. Thanks in advance for all the help!

Hi,

There is the Vintage Hostel on Rue Dunkerque in the 10th Arrond., close to the 9th en route to Montmarte. It's ca a 20 min walk from Gare du Nord. On the opposite end of Rue Dunkerque is the St Christopher's Inn, which is close to Gare de l'Est.

I've checked both out since I stay in Gare du Nord just opposite from the station. Location-wise Vintage is better, smaller. St Christopher's Inn is a big hostel with a hamburger eatery attached to it.

Cost is no problem, I don't think any of the hostels exceed your budget. Paris is a good place to stay at a hostel. It has the biggest difference between the cost of a hostel and the cost of a hotel room. Most of France, in June, I can find an Airbnb apartment for $50 per night or a private room for a little over half that.

Best hostel in Paris, hands down, is the MIJE. It's in the Marais so less than a ten minute walk from Notre Dame Cathedral. It's a great old building with thick walls and relaxing courtyards that has been turned into a modern hostel.

It always books up, often with European school groups, so reserve early (or keep checking back for a cancellation). I've stayed at other hostels in Paris too but would always pick the MIJE ahead of the others.

Not a hostel, but we stayed here for 2 nights. Clean, safe, professional. No one leaves thr lobby without giving your room key to the concierge and ni one gets in without them giving it back...very safe! In the heart if the latin quarter facing the Sorbonne. About €60-80/ night for your own room!

I know young females who have stayed at MIJE and St Christophers( the one by Canal Martin) .. both liked them.. however I think the MIJE was has a slightly better more central location.

erin,

You might have a look at the HI Hostels properties in Paris - https://www.hihostels.com/destinations/0048/hostels . I've always found them to be clean and well managed. Having an inexpensive HI Hostels membership will provide slightly cheaper rates and other benefits.

As you've stayed in Hostels before, don't forget a towel, flip-flops and a small but robust Padlock (for the lockers). Don't use the cheap TSA locks as they're simply not adequate.
