SNCF Questions

Hello.
My mom and I will travel to France in June, and we have two questions on SNCF.

1) Some INOUI trains from Paris to Marseilles in June have already been fully booked! Is this normal, or will they release seats when the day approaches?

2) Trains from Paris to Renne are not currently bookable. How many days in advance can we purchase tickets?

Thank you!

I think you should start to see the trains from Paris to Renne become available about 90 days in advance. If you download the SNCF app you can sign up for notifications when they go on sale.

Regarding Marseille, the app will also usually post a notice box at the top of your search results saying "more trains will be available soon..." That refers to additional trains though, I'm not sure if they hold back seats on trains that are already posted.

Hope that helps somewhat.

Week end dates to Marseille are indeed booking up fast. Can you change your dates to midweek? Travel Friday and Saturday you are competing for seats with Parisians going on holiday.

Thank you for your replies!

I just downloaded the app and signed up for email notifications. We looked into mid-week trains to Marseilles but now understand there's higher demand due to vacation travel. Booking a train as soon as possible seems like the best option.

We took the train from Paris to Rennes last spring. I think the schedule isn't published this far out. I loved using the SNCF app. Having all the QR codes to scan when boarding the train is so convenient.

When is exactly your trip? If SNCF Connect says "non reservable" it just means that you can't reserve yet.

The app does have trains available to book from Paris to Marseille in June, and some do show as "fully booked" rather than "not bookable." But there do seem to be quite a few that are available. I was a bit surprised by how far in advance they're offering that route.

The SNCF email arrived this morning:
all INOUI and Intercités train tickets will go on sale this Wednesday, February 12, for trips through June 12th.
From past experience, the tickets come online sometime during the night/very early morning hours Paris time.
