SNCF frequent traveler discount cards

I am not seeing the Family Card. Weekend Card seems pretty straight forward.

It's possible that this is an html coding error or oversight because the descriptions in some parts of SNCF's website for la carte avantage week-end differ depending on which page you're viewing. In some areas, the description reads identically to that for la carte avantage famille and in other areas it seems to focus on just the card holder and a companion, and the amounts of reduction are different.

One thing I've learned is that French businesses don't maintain or update their websites as diligently as, for example, American businesses do. They generally would rather you just call with your question rather than have to keep updating their website.

Part of the problem could be that SNCF is in the process of rolling out new card programs (for example "la carte avantage week-end" used to be called simply "la carte week-end"). The new version of the weekend card has additional benefits that make it comparable to, if not identical to, la carte avantage famille.

My suggestion would be that, if you're traveling as a family with children, opt for the famille card. If it's just you or you and a significant other, opt for the weekend card. Opt for neither if your projected savings wouldn't cover the cost of the card.

The SNCF website is a bit of a mess at the moment - even booking tickets can be an adventure. And then once you manage to make a booking, the aedvisory email doesnt get it right...

Thanks for the helpful replies. Playing around with the website and trying to create test bookings left me completely confused last night. It seems as if there a number of programming bugs still left in the system.
