SNCF Carte Avantage Senior Pic Upload

I've been trying to upload my picture to the tgvinoui.sncf website for the past week. When I input my picture, I then get a message that states the page I'm looking for isn't available and to try again later (text of message below.) This is not the error message one gets if the picture does not meet the stated requirements...my ineptitude gave me ample opportunity to see that :-). So, I'm wondering, is it me, or their website? Any insight would be most appreciated.

"Une erreur technique rend impossible l'affichage de la page demandée.
Merci de vous connecter ultérieurement."

Eric I don't know what to tell you about the error you're getting - but maybe you could get it to work if you download the SNCF Connect app and try to upload your photo to your card there ?

Thank you, Kim. I have tried it through the app as well, but when I click on the link to take my photo, it just sends me to the same tgvinouisncf website.

I know this is a quality problem (I'm travelling in France after all!), and that it's not necessary to do this, but it would be more convenient to not have to pull out my passport every time my ticket is checked.

ETA--I wonder if it has to do with the fact that I "started" the card on a future date?

My husband, a gentleman of the older generation, has refused to put his "carte" on his phone. He carries his paper receipt with him in case the controller wants to see proof that he has purchased a senior card. I would wait until your validity date, and if it still doesn't upload, just print your receipt and stick it in your wallet.

I have to admit that I have not dematerialized my *carte avantage, * either. I just carry my print out of my card (not really a card, just a sheet of paper). I can't be bothered.

Thank you, Bets and Kim, for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate it. Worst case scenario, I'll feel complimented if they ask to see proof :-)

I cannot successfully enter my picture using the SNCF/TGVINOUI.SNCF apps on my iPhone or iPad. I’m sure that I’m loading a JPEG format, and it’s well within the size limit of 5MB. (Actually I’ve tried as small as 500K) I am able to load the pic into the app, but after the “Framing” (cropping) it gives me the error: “ SCNF Cette photo n'est pas conforme. Merci de fournir une nouvelle photo.”

I open the SNCF Connect App, got to “digitize” it sends me to the TGVINOUI companion app, log in, upload the picture, crop it, and then it gives me the error. I’ve tried taking the picture directly from the app, uploading different sizes, pictures, etc with no luck. I’m doing it from the USA.

Anyone have any guidance or tips?

Thx,
Rog

When you get to France, go into a train station ticket sales office. They will load it for you.

I finally managed to accomplish this on the app, but I remember it being quite the trial and error task. And, once signed into the app, it’s a bit of dig to find the photo. Just going through the app, my photo is linked to my QR code. I can’t imagine a conductor wanting to hang out while I actually find it. I’m taking our paper copies too.

I have my husband as a traveling companion in my account, but I needed to dig even further to find that-and I didn’t upload a photo for him, so back to paper anyway.

Nice to hear that neither Bets nor Kim (two of the French locals), have much concern about uploading the photo!

They will do it for you if you have trouble. Then when your ticket is scanned in the train, your photo pops up on the controller's screen. Smile 😁.

In 2022 I eventually managed to get this to work after many tries, but so far have been unable to get it to work for my husband. No one checked our Cartes on the two train trips we made on our recent trip. Incidentally, although we only did the two not very long journeys, we already saved more than the price of the card. They really are a good deal for seniors.

I had the regular carte on my last visit and it was very helpful, I happened to get it when it was on sale. No photo necessary.

However the conductor on my TGV refused to believe that I could possibly have figured out how to use a carte and after giving my ticket the stink eye, he insisted on seeing the carte itself (printed on a piece of paper) AND my passport. He huffed away sad and defeated.
