Snapshot France Guidebooks?

We are going on the 11 Day Paris and the Heart of France tour. I am deciding today between getting the FULL France book with Paris OR the France Snapshot books for Normandy and Loire Valley (along with the full Paris book since we are there on our own before the tour). We spend time in a couple of other areas, but it is short, and the things on those areas in the big guide book are so brief that I can make my own notes on them).

FULL France book or the Snapshot Books? What do you think?

Thank you!

That sounds reasonable to me. The full book is too bulky when you visit just a few regions. I have used both snapshot books with success. Even the pocket paris book is adequate IMO.

As far as I understand, the Snapshot books are the same as the chapters in the France book, so I would just get the big France book and cut it up before I left for my trip. He has a funny YouTube video on how to cut them up:

Why not a kindle version on your smartphone? The full France book doesn't weigh anymore than a collection of snapshot books. I used to cut guidebooks up very similar to what Rick does in the video, when I was done with a section I discarded it - always trying to keep my bag as light as possible. Now I carry no physical books (occasionally I'll pack a Michelin Green Guide) but I do "pack" some Kindle version books.
