We will be flying out of CDG airport in late Sept. ‘22. We really don’t care to stay in an airport hotel but would rather stay in a small town or country Inn within an hour of the airport, for our last night in France. Does anyone have any suggestions?
And if it is a rental car, know that rental car check in an all clear (for damage and gas) is not the drop and go of a US airport -- You don't want to be eating up that time the morning of a flight.
Yes, we will have a car to return. Flight is not until 2:00pm
Chantilly and Senlis are worth investigating, Chantilly with several hotels near the Château. Senlis is smaller and very charming, with some b&b’s and small hotels. I wouldn’t go too far afield. I’ve returned many cars at CDG over the years, and you want to leave time for a thorough inspection.
Senlis is super charming, we were just there 10 days ago. Get there in the morning so you can enjoy this medieval gem of a town.
My suggestions are: Auvers-sur-Oise (45-minutes) and Chantilly (30-minutes).
Senlis is closest to CDG, 22 min drive.
For some reason I tend to get lost around CDG when returning a rental car when I'm not driving on the A1. Regardless of where you stay, make sure you build in a little extra time just in case. BTW - once I get to the airport things run pretty smooth. There are several hotels along the All. du Verger just to the west of the airport/A1 at the edge of the village area of Roissy.
Thanks for all the information, I really appreciate it. Am leaning towards Senlis.
You will not regret Senlis. We wished we could have stayed longer.
