Does anyone have a suggestion for a small, charming hotel in Rouen, preferably in the city center?
Sorry, I didn't stay there. I think the center will be the most charming. Rouen has a large medieval center. As you move out of the center, it's just a city.
We had a very nice stay at the Hotel Bonaparte. I'm not sure I'd swear it is charming, but it was nice. The room we had ( a triple) was fairly basic but comfortable. The lobby area is cozy and they offered a very large breakfast buffet that looked great. We also chose it because it has on site parking. The location was excellent for walking around the city and the folks were friendly. We emailed in English and they responded in French but it all worked; they're also on booking.com I think. We spent about two days in Rouen and liked it a lot. Try to be sure to see the cathedral sound and light show....we were dazzled. Safe travels.
We stayed at the hotel-de-la-cathedrale last summer. It was neat, clean, and quiet, with a spectacular location.

Agree with SherrieF. Hotel de la Cathedrale suited us very well. It is pretty, a few metres from the Cathedral and a short walk to the town centre.
We stayed at Le Vieux Carre in the center. It was in an old half timber building on the third floor. The room was very small, there was no elevator and our room overlooked the tiny center courtyard. Not at all fancy but I booked on purpose for the experience. It was very well located for walking to all the main sights. If you have a car ask for directions to the public parking. Our GPS led us on a small adventure.
