I purchased a ticket to Versailles online from the Versailles site. I just received an information email from the site. It says in big red letters that the ticket I purchased does not allow me to skip the line. I assume this means, not skip the security line, which I understand. I mean I already have a ticket, right? I wouldn't have to stand in the ticket line....

You do not have to stand in the ticket line but you do have to stand in the security line which is VERY long. If you do want to wait too long, make sure to get there before opening. This past July, we waited in the security line for 45 minutes.

Yes the Security line cannot be skipped and it is usually very long. But its worth it once you get inside. Enjoy Versailles.
