We rented a car with Sixt through American Express Travel for an upcoming trip. We have heard good things about Sixt through friends and family. Their tv ads in the USA state they guarantee the vehicle make and model. Does anyone know if Sixt France maintains the same guarantee?
I don't think so. That is who my husband always rents from but I don't think they guarantee like that.
I stand ready to be corrected of course !

Looking at the Sixt site for a rental at CDG shows the above wording when making a vehicle selection. My interpretation would be a specific make/model is not guaranteed.
No personal experience. ( not even a Sixt TV ad)

Thank you for pointing out the verbiage - I completely missed “or similar”.
With any rental company there’s always the “or similar” printed someplace. For our last four European rentals (2022-2023) we’ve received exactly what we reserved three times. The fourth was a “or similar,” that was perfectly fine since it was the same size (interior room and cargo capacity) as what we reserved. Those rentals were through Enterprise.
I have had trouble with this company in the past and no longer use them. That said, when you get your car make sure you take pictures of all angles of it to prove what is there or is not there for damage. That is the trouble I’ve had in the past. They have tried to charge me for damage that I did not cause. Their prices are good and I have not had trouble getting or returning cars, other than finding the location at Charles de Gaulle airport. When you get your bill make sure you review it and make sure you keep it safe, because I have had to fight with them over the Atlantic ocean as well as about the damage.
Rosiecaro - thank you for your response. We standardly take before and after photos and know where the Sixt desk is located at CDG as we were there last year renting through Hertz.
With Hertz, we arrived 30 minutes earlier than our reserved time. The agent told us our car was not ready
And suggested we upgrade to the next size. We told him we rented a sub compact because we wanted fewer size issues while visiting the perched villages. He said we would be more comfortable in a larger suv and we could get GPS. We now know we did not need the GPS because we were able to use Waze successfully throughout our trip. We were tired from our long haul flight and acquiesced. We just wanted to get on the road. The car ended up being fine.
I rented from Sixt several years ago but also know how things can change. I think we will stick with Sixt and hope for the best. My stylist used Sixt in Rome last year and said the car provided only had 20 miles on it and service was great. CDG, unfortunately, can often be a lot different.
