Usually when I travel to the US I purchase a SIM card from one of the providers. Can I do the same thing in Paris?
Yes, of course, as long as your phone is unlocked.
Hi from Wisconsin,
I am an old fogy. I use a phone in Europe for very few reasons. So I spent a month in Spain and was charged under $5.00.
You can buy a SIM card from Mobal. It costs $15. If you order it in advance they will ship it to you. They will charge you as you use it. Once you have the card it is good for ever (well, let's get serious, nothing having to do with modern technology lasts for ever). Other SIM cards come with a set number of minutes and days that it is good. Use too many minutes and you have to recharge the card. Use too few and the will minute expire.
Any unlocked phone good for GSM (the European transmission system, most modern phones either are this or can do the US system and this) can accept this card and work.
