Hi - We are interested in doing after an after dark cruise on the Siene. Is it necessary/recommended to purchase tickets in advance? Is there a preferred boat company. We don't want a dinner cruise.
Thanks
I like the smaller Vedettes Cruises.
I've never needed an advance ticket but it probably depends on when you will be in Paris.
Maybe you could go on line and do a dummy purchase to see if the evening slots are selling out.
Just walk up to the dock of the cruise you want to take and do the next boat. Not something that needs planning. There is a dock by the Eiffel tower on the left bank, one upriver from Pont d'Alma on the right bank, and one, Vedettes Pont Neuf, right under Pont Neuf (bridge) accessed by stairs behind the statue of Henri IV. They are different companies but all run the same route. We like Pont Neuf because it is life commentary and smaller -- but I think they are pretty similar.
FWIW yuo can bring your own snacks and wine. V Pont Neuf has a bar on the dock you can buy drinks from. I am not certain about the others.
Second the nomination for Vedettes du Pont Neuf. And you're wise to have dinner on shore where you can focus on it. I don't think you need to buy ahead, though you might want to if you'll be there during the Olympics this summer. None of us really knows what that will be like.
