I am taking my boy to Paris next year who is 3 for 4 days. We are going to Disneyland for one day. We will be taking a trip up the tower and spending time in the city.
What I would like to know is is Versailles worth the trip out on such a short trip?
I would say no. The crowds would probably be nightmarish for a three-year-old and the building not that interesting to him.
At three years old, maybe nearing four when you go to Paris, he is at the perfect age for a pony ride in a Paris park. Wait 10 years to take him to Versailles.
Versailles won’t be of much interest to a three year old, so I would stay in Paris, which has plenty to offer.
I agree about skipping Versailles. However if you decide to go, I would definitely skip the palace (shoulder to shoulder crowds) but your child might enjoy the Hameau which is the small area with farm animals.
Agree it would not be advisable to take a preschooler inside the Palace of Versailles, but the gardens might be OK. You can enter from the garden end of the property so you wouldn't have to go through the security lines or the building. If it's just the park, your kid would like the Luxembourg Gardens just as much, and that's in central Paris.
