Has anyone used the company Shuttle Inter for their "Private Car" transportation services, i.e., private car pick-up from airport to hotel? There are mixed reviews about this company, however a majority of them are dated from 2013 and later. I'm interested to know of anyone's experiences with their services in Paris.
I tried them once several years ago, but they didn't show. Private car services in Paris generally have poor reputations. It is so easy to go to the official taxi rank to get a cab into the city. Taxi drivers are expert at getting through traffic and they can use bus lanes. Flat rate for up to 4 passengers and luggage to the Left Bank is 55€; 50€ to the Right Bank. Tipping not expected or required.
The only time to arrange a car ahead is if you need a car seat for a baby or toddler; shuttle inter does this and it is my understanding that they don't charge till you are transported which avoids one half of the unreliability problem -- you may not get your car but at least you don't also lose your money. (car services are notorious for not showing and keeping the money claiming 'we were there but you weren't.'
Go to the official cab line; don't accept any offers of cabs except from the dispatcher at the head of the line who will match you with an appropriate cave. It is 50 to the right bank and 55 to the left from CDG; 30 to the left bank and 35 to the right from ORY.
The last time we used "Shuttle Inter" back in 2009 or 2010, an older car picked us up at the airport and broke down on a very busy road. The driver hailed a taxi for us but then that taxi dropped us off at a train station telling us we had to get another taxi because he was finished for the day. Not a very good day after a very long trans-atlantic flight and expensive.
Since then we have used Inter Shuttle Prestige and have been happy with their services.
Thank you everyone for your feedback!
We have a large party of 11. This is the reason we are considering hiring a private car service vs. taking multiple taxis.
