I realize that a similar topic has been asked before, but we have been looking at the Air France site, and it looks like the bus service from CDG no longer goes to the Gare de Lyon. Does anyone know if this is now the case? We are staying in the 12th and Gare de Lyon is close to our B and B. We figured we could get to Gare de Lyon and then find a taxi to our accommodations. Thanks!
Unless the world has come to an end, it still stops at Gare de Lyon enroute to Gare Montparnasse.
If you're staying real close to Gare de Lyon, you might not find a taxi willing to make a very short run after waiting in the rank in anticipation of a decent fare.
Here's the scoop in the second fat paragraph: http://www.lescarsairfrance.com/en/roissy-cdg-shuttle-bus.html
The Cars AirFrance definitely does still go to the Gare de Lyon, I was on one just week before last coming back from Dublin.
The route is the one that goes to Gare de Montparnasse. Coming from the airport, you stop first at Gare de Lyon (and then the bus continues on to Montparnasse.
When you board the bus at the airport, they'll ask you which stop you're getting off at and will put your luggage underneath with the other folks who are getting off at your same stop.
It's a tad bit expensive, and can take a while to get out of the airport itself (depending on which terminal you're at and how much more of the airport it still has to do before having hit all the terminals), but it's such a comfortable way into the city.
Although if there are two of you or especially more, you might consider taking a taxi. The additional price per person you would pay would not be that great compared to the bus, and then you wiuldn't have to do the parade around the Airport and would get delivered directly to where you're staying.
Also it's first come, first served. Last week while waiting for the Roissybus, I saw some people in line for Les Cars to Gare de Lyon/Montparnasse have to wait for the following bus.
Ooooh, that would be a real drag!!
Hello Kim,
Read your posts regarding LesCarAirFrance bus. My question is: what is the cost for the bus per person.
@leonrex: The bus cost varies depending on whether you buy your ticket ahead of time online and the route you are using. Adult one way ticket is currently 16.60 euros if purchased online (www.lescarsairfrance.com) for the trip from CDG to Gare de Lyon. The bus does not go to Terminal 3.
And €17.50 if purchased on the bus.
@Leonrex: to find the prices, you only have to follow the links that Ed and JHK so kindly provided right in their messages!
The bus would cost you over 30 Euros for a couple and then add on a cab fare and you are having a hassle without saving much. It makes a lot more sense to just take a cab to your hotel.
Thanks so much for all of the good information. We looked at the AF site again, and found that Line 4 does indeed stop at the Gard de Lyon, then onto the Montparnasse stop. We'll be going on line today to get the discounted tickets rather than worry about using cash. From there we can literally walk from their to our accommodations (about a 10 minutes).
Thank you all for the great info re the leCarAirFrance. After some deliberations, we decided to lessen the stress of arrival by taking a taxi. This is our first time in France. Thanks again. So, France here we come!
Melissa -- remember to print the tickets. They are very strict about demanding the printed ticket for the pre-paid tickets. They will NOT accept a screenshot on your iPhone, etc etc.
Have fun!!
