Friends,
We are planning a day trip from Paris to Amboise simply to see Château du Clos-Lucé (our son is a big da Vinci fan).
To do a self-tour, is it worth it to purchase tickets ahead or should we just buy them when we arrive? Thank you!

We were there in September, and we did have to wait about 20 minutes to purchase tickets. If they are not timed tickets, I would purchase ahead, mostly because I'm just type A. ;) I guess also, you never know if you just hit it at the wrong time. It was very busy when we were there but with the grounds it is a pretty big place and it felt fine. Save time to walk around the gardens to see the replicas of his inventions.

I just walked up and there was no line. That was mid-afternoon, September 2016.
