Sète? Any recommendations for lodging?

We learned that Sète is a beautiful spot along our train route between Toulouse and Annecy, and decided to stop and stay there for a couple of nights.

Any info to share about lodging and restaurants in Sète? Thanks in advance!😊

Sète is charming, but how many nights is "a couple"? There is not very much to do there, so i would say two nights, max (and one night would do if you just want to break the journey). Can't help about hotels.

Balso, merci! We thought two nights and then on to Annecy. We don’t need a lot to do…just enjoying a beautiful stop along the way with water views and lovely strolls. We will be coming from Carcassonne, with one night’s stop there. Hopefully we will have some flexibility with the regional trains to maximize Carcassonne and then get to Sète.

With all that I’ve read about crowds at Carcassonne, I’m looking forward to truly enjoying the place most from dusk to dawn, and I think one night is enough. What’s your opinion?

Thanks,
Laurie

hey hey laurie
when is this trip planned? we were in annecy september 2019, and loved this small town, we stayed 5 nights.
if you are there the second saturday of october check this activity out:
en.lac-annecy.com/ must sees/ the retour des alpages
folklore and tradition of the animals coming off the mountain pastures for winter time. a big festival in the streets of animals dressed in their attire along with their herders, food/ music/ crafts.
enjoy your time there.

One night in Carcassonne is enough in my opinion.
Regarding Sète: have you been to Nîmes before? If not, that would be my recommendation instead of Sète. Sète is lovely, don't get me wrong, but there are places of greater overall interest in that part of France, hence my reaction.

Sète is interesting, the largest working port in France on the Mediterranean, but I don't see it as beautiful. The Riviera is beautiful-- but that's out of your way.

Go to Montpellier, a very happening town with an old historical center. That way you can visit Sète one day, a 15-minute train ride, and Nîmes another, a 30-minute train ride.
