Sept. trip 2 part question

I'll be in France in mid Sept for 15 nights. Want to split time between Normandy, mainly WWII sights, and Provence (I know opposite area of Normandy), and finish with Paris for a few days. I'm good with trains and can drive as needed. The split of time between Normandy and Provence doesn't have to be equal days. Marseille would be a point of interest. I would like to minimize the re-locating as much as possible, maybe a hub town or 2 at the most to visit other spots during the day.

2nd question. If I do an Overlord tour, which full day tour? They all look like they are amazing but which one to choose? Assume to do thee tour 1st full day, then explore on my own to fill in the "gaps"? Car rental an option in order to do that. TY!

We did the Overlord Tour of the American beaches which included the American cemetery. It was terrific.

Use a multi-destination search function to fly into Marseille's Provence airport and home from Paris, for a more efficient route of travel. Even if you have to change planes to get to Marseille, having the flights all on a single itinerary will make it a time-saver and cost about the same as a simple round trip if you allow for the cost of returning to your arrival city.
Getting to the Normandy beaches almost certainly requires returning by train to Paris. Shopping for D-Day tours, you can sort out which areas interest you most. For instance, the Commonwealth beaches will require a somewhat different route than the US landings. Another factor is which museums and memorials are on the list. In my view, a full day is a minimum but the knowledge of your guide is much more important than driving the tour vehicle.
Some visitors choose to stay in Caen rather than Bayeux. It's an easy commute away and offers more hotels, restaurants and car rentals as a major stop on the train from Paris. It also has a big museum, which some but not all appear to like, and a tour operated to the beaches from there in the past. Bonus: The fortress/palace of William the Conqueror is in the heart of Caen.

I took Overlord Tour #2 in October. One of the best one day tours I've ever taken.

You could take the train between Normandy and Provence. It will eat up an entire day and include changes.

Before Marseille, there are any other places in that area of more interest--Lyon, Carcassone, Lyon, Arles, Avignon to name a few.
