Senlis, France

This medieval town, just north of Paris looks interesting! Wondering about easy public transit to get there....looks like a train to Chantilly then connect to a bus but I can’t get a clear answer. I need this to be easy as I can’t walk long distances. Any suggestions? Any other towns close to Paris to day trip? Thanks!

We did this several years ago:

It involved a train to Chantilly with a connecting bus to Senlis. It is one ticket for the whole trip -- i.e. you book to Senlis from Paris and I seem to recall it is from Gare du Nord. It is outside the Ile de France so the ND won't cover it. You buy both to and from tickets in Paris. There is no train station in Senlis; the bus station is an easy stroll into the center of town. Don't make our rookie mistake and go on a Monday; small towns with tourist economies are locked up tight as a drum on Mondays. We enjoyed it, but it would have been nicer with restaurants etc open.

Rome2Rio says there is a train to Chantilly and a bus to Senlis that leaves every 30 minutes and is a 20 minute trip. Depends on the day and time to be sure there is a train. Some may not run on Saturday or Sunday. Check out www.rome2rio.com Very useful sight.
