We’re going to taking trains from Paris to Toulon, as well as some other destinations. I was wondering if anyone has been able to purchase and use a Senior discount pass? Are non EU citizens eligible?
If you’re talking about SNCF Carte Avantage Senior, yes, have used them multiple times. Your citizenship and residence don’t matter. It doesn’t take all that much travel to make them worth the price.
Anyone 60 and over may purchase the Carte Avantage Senior - 49€ valid for one year.
Wow! Thanks so much for the quick replies!
If you put your age in the app and buy a ticket with the discount, you risk being heavily fined when the conductor checks your ticket and finds you have purchased a discounted fare without having the Carte Advantage Senior.
We used to get a 25% discount over age 60 but only during what was considered non-busy hours, colored blue on the old paper schedules. Kim’s correct, nowadays we have to have the card. Mine is in the SNCF computer, dematerialised they call it, so the discount is automatic and the controllers sees it in the little machine they use to scan our tickets.
