Senior - Offre Essentiel Adulte

Hello,

I purchased a train ticket from Strasbourg to Paris for this May. I had trouble using my credit card on the trains site so I bought through The Trainline website.

It’s possible I clicked to purchase a senior ticket although I don’t recall doing that. I did index my birthdate….

Anyway, in looking at the ticket is shows by the price “ Senior - Offre Essentiel Adulte”. I’m guessing that’s a discount for over 65. Rather than refunding & repurchasing I’m thinking to buy the senior discount card at the station in Strasbourg a few days before using the train. I would buy online but had trouble getting my credit card to work with the official site. Is this a doable plan?

TIA

Jenny

It looks like you booked a Ouigo train, which is SNCF's answer to discount no frills airlines. The regular TGV's are not yet bookable for May. I cannot tell if this is a senior ticket, but it looks like they are the same price for advance nonrefundable tickets.

Ouigo trains you pay extra for luggage that does not fit in the overhead rack, a seat assignment, and there are no services on the train.

Thank you Sam! You are correct on the train I chose. I have since messaged Trainline & am awaiting their reply. My concern was they noted Senior on the ticket so don’t want any surprises on travel day.
