SeLoger for renting an apartment

we are thinking of renting an apartment for two months starting about March 1, 2025. My wife and I do not need anything fancy (although we do not want a lot of stairs), and are looking for a place at least 45 square meters or larger. I have never used the SeLoger agency before, but they seem to have a lot of apartments listed, some at very reasonable prices. Does anyone have any experience using SELoger? Once we have (tentatively) selected an apartment, do we keep dealing with SeLoger, or is it like VRBO where you wind up dealing with the individual owner? Are the amenities listed in the SeLoger listing generally accurate, or does that depend solely on what the owner states? Thanks for any advice. Peter

SeLoger is a real estate agency that publishes classified ads for house and apartment sales or long-term rentals.
Not at all suitable for a 2 month vacation rental.

If it's not for a big city like Paris, check out the gîtes de France:

Se Loger is as stated above, but Lodgis.com does rent furnished apartments for two months. We used to use Lodgis when renting in Paris before the city of Paris limited short term rentals. They still do have a few, as well as rentals in neighbouring suburbs. We found the descriptions accurate. The apartments are visits for accuracy. I never reported problems to Lodgis but just dealt with them, so I don’t know how they would have handled them.

Just so you know, often airbnb and vrbo will offer a discount for a month's stay, usually four weeks for the price of three or something like that. So it's worth asking if you find something you're interested in.

Just for your information, a lot of the SeLoger listings state that they rent, for example, one month or longer. So a lot of them appear to be open for rental of 2 months. But I guess this could be dreaming, and maybe they really prefer longer rentals so the chance of getting a rental for 2 months is pretty slim. In any event, once I show an interest in an apartment, do I then deal primarily with the SeLoger people or do I deal with the individual owner? Thanks. Peter

adodd,
If you are not looking for a place in Paris, I second JoLui's recommendation of gites de France. We have used them often over the years and have always been very satisfied with them. For 1 or 2 nights we get a chambre d'hote and deal with the owner who is there (a true B and B), and for longer stays, there is the owner or caretaker there to deal with also. Arrangements through the website are good as well in the reservations and paperwork, etc.

Se Loger is a website that lists real estate. It’s not a rental agency. Watch out for scams. The city of Paris clamped down on*vacation rentals. Apartments must have a mandatory city of Paris license number for a short-term rental. Two months is short-term vacation rentals.
A furnished apartments have a one-year contracts in France. An unfurnished has a three-year contract.

Since you keep mentioning SeLoger, a website, and there are a lot of scammers and illegal rentals, you are better off with Lodgis, Morning croissant, or one of the vacation rental agencies.

Yes there are temporary rental ads on SeLoger and you can try to contact the owners, but I have seen that the majority are professionals, many from "Blueground" which offer rentals between 1 and 12 months.
I had a look on the Blueground website which offers these medium-term rentals and I noticed that for example an apartment in Paris supposedly advertised at (only) €3,850/month actually costs €5,050/month if you include all charges (internet, heating, supplies, linens, towels, cleaning)
And you must provide a security deposit of €3,850 refundable at the end of your stay, as long as no damage is discovered.

JoLui: sounds like longer-term residence hotels if linens and other items are rented

Elizabeth, I don't know if it's long term or medium term. It seems to me that this kind of accomodation is more suited to wealthy businessmen/women or what we call in France a "garçonnière" :))

(I don't know the equivalent word in English)

Any apartment rental of fewer than 12 months is short term, otherwise rentals are regular or long term. If you are a student, short term rentals are defined as those of fewer than 9 months. I don't see any reason to avoid SeLoger or PAP, or Logic Immo if you are looking for a two month rental. However, you are entering areas where the more French you know, the better.

Another aspect you may want to explore would be a "mobility lease", if you qualify. Tourism is probably the only disqualifier, but searching specifically for a "bail mobilité" should make things easier. If you are in Paris to further your education, such as to take a language course, or a drawing course, or any course, you qualify.

The vast majority of listings on SeLoger appear to be intended for leases of a year or more, but there are a few for shorter term. As to who you deal with, it would not be SeLoger - they're just a website. I'm saying this based on recent experience of contacting a number of ads I saw on SeLoger. Some ads lead directly to an owner or a manager directly responsible for the advertised apartment, but most seem to be agencies with many listings. We are now living in an apartment that was listed on SeLoger. The rental process was handled by a large-ish agency; no contact with the actual owner. Our apartment is exactly as advertised but I would advise caution and a lot of research before committing to anything. Also, I think our experience is relatively typical that the apartment came "furnished", even with some kitchen equipment, but no sheets, towels, etc., and we had to set up electricity, gas and Internet service. For a short-term rental you'd want to make sure these are provided.
